The Niagara of Pennsylvania
SEASON OPENING APRIL 9
One yearly visit for my family summer tour are the beautiful falls of Bushkill. After a short delay due to the extreme winter weather, Bushkill Falls is ready to open their doors. Filled with outdoor adventures and family activities, Bushkill has always been our family favorite Pocono stop. Branded the "Niagara of Pennsylvania" they are a beautiful group of waterfalls found throughout a scenic hiking path.. The main falls can be breathtaking as you watch them from the manmaid bridges and walkways surrounding the base. You have a choice of three paths - Yellow, Blue or the Infamous Red Trail (the longest of the three). Depending on your hiking preference, and how many children you are carrying, you can select your path from a color coded map you receive at the ticket window.
Admission into the waterfalll park is as follows:
Admission Rates
Adults: $11 / day
Seniors: $10 / day
Children 4 to 10: $6 / day
Children 3 and under: Free / day
Group rates available - contact us for details.
The price is a complete bargain compared to other attractions and parks for your family. The entire day can be spent at the park on the trails alone. There is some hard work at times climbing the numerous steps throughout the path. I recommend some hiking boots or comfortable sneakers to get yourself through the journey. Also, even though you can not intentionally go into the water, you do seem to get sprayed and splashed from the falls, which can be absolutely refreshing on a hot day. When you venture back from the trails there are numerous opportunities to continue the fun. Normally, we bring a picnic basket and cooler to take advantage of the quaint outdoor venues provided by the park. Tables and charcoal grills are scattered throughout the ground, overlooking the lake and miniature golf course. If you chose to take advantage of the Snack Bar you will find refreshments, burgers and pizza at a decent price. One stop we always make is the Ice Cream Parlor, where the scoops are very generous . They serve a variety of flavors that seem to always bring a smile to my crew.
In additional to eating and shopping there are other family activities that the children can partake. Paddleboat Rentals, Fishing, "Mining for Gemstones", and Miniature Golf are loads of fun for the little ones. Also there is a newer adventure which we have not participated in called Map Adventure. We look forward to trying this out on our next visit, as you can purchase a special map and discover punches for it throughout the park, collecting them as you go.
Bushkill focuses on the wonders of nature and teaches your children about Pennsylvania Wild Life. It is a complete joy bringing the family each year as it is a true outdoor adventure we shall never tire of attending. Here are some of the scheduled events at Bushkill Falls this year. Hope you can attend and have the same family fun we always do.
